The Laws of Attraction: Getting Your Hiring Managers on Board

Jay Barnett, Founder and Chief Products Officer of Decision Toolbox, recently shared his insights with Recruiting Trends, a leading resource for employee recruitment.  In his article The Laws of Attraction: Getting Your Hiring Managers on BoardJay teamed up with Hitomi Nishinaka, director of human resources at Clean Energy Fuels Corp. to distinguish between a shortage of talent and a shortage of strong partnerships between recruiters and hiring managers, surmising that languishing job vacancies aren’t the side effect of a talent shortage.

Instead, Barnett believes the problem stems from the beginning of the partnership, when the job vacancy is first communicated to the recruiter.  If the recruiter and the hiring manager don’t work together to identify a complete picture of the ideal candidate for the role, the recruiter is left to work with only duties and requirements, which only helps screen out rather than attract qualified and interested candidates.
