Recruiting Tools Every Recruiter Should Leverage

In the day of ever-evolving technology recruiters have to stay current or they will be left in the dust. Recruiters may work with a variety of applicant tracking systems or work for a company with nothing more than Excel. The ability to learn and leverage any technology is what will set the newbies apart from the skilled. A recruiter may not have any influence on the recruiting tools their employer opts to use, but they need to come prepared with their own set of resources. Here are some must-haves:

LinkedIn – Personal connections, niche connections and professional groups are just a few reasons to be on this site. A recruiter looking for a recruiting position who doesn’t have a solid LinkedIn network is like a mechanic showing up not knowing how to use air tools.  LinkedIn has survived many technological advances and remains strong. Here are some interesting stats:

  • Over 2.1 million groups
  • 187 million unique monthly visitors
  • 277 million users

Facebook Graph – Recruiters need to know how to use it and use it well. By the end of 2013 Facebook had over 1.23bn monthly active users. 90% of the users update their education and location status.

The Phone – They cannot avoid it or be afraid of it. After a recruiter finds the right talent they have to be able to build rapport with them.

Professional bites:

  • Know the tools of your trade
  • Leverage technology
  • Never forget the value establishing a relationship

  • " I just wanted to take a moment to say how much I am enjoying working with (DT Recruiter). She is great at facilitating our discussion within the Board of Directors Executive Director search committee. I also love the company process and have referred you to several colleagues. "
  • " (DT Recruiter) is the best I have ever worked with in the recruiting space. She is fantastic! Your people, process, and technology are all top notch. You guys have this thing figured out. Kudos on a great business model, and fabulous execution! "
  • " DT delivered fantastically. Your write-up and screening provided me with a limited number of candidates, but they were high-quality.  (DT Recruiter) was very professional and kept me on-track with regular follow-up, which was a very high value deliverable to me. This ensured that issues and candidates were fresh toward eventual hiring. I would very much ask for (DT Recruiter) for our future business with you. "
  • " As a rule, I will never fill out a survey and give the highest rating. No matter how good the service might be there is always room for improvement. However, in working with DT (especially my Recruitment Partner) a rating of 11 or higher would be needed. You all took the hideously dreadful process of finding and qualifying good candidates for our open position and made the process a breeze for me. "
