Kim Shepherd to Share Tips for Building Cultural Glue with NAWBO-OC

The term corporate culture sometimes evokes idealistic images of the dot com era, when companies furnished conference rooms with pool table meeting space and break rooms with free sodas and snacks.  While employees likely loved the environment, it didn’t ensure the companies made it past 2001.  But today the concept of strong corporate culture is a crucial element to an organization’s success.  When a passionate executive commits to instilling a strong culture in a company, real business magic can result.  On March 5, over 100 executives from the National Association of Women Business Owners – Orange County will gather to hear Kim Shepherd share her insights on why and how to successfully build cultural glue in their organizations.  As CEO of Decision Toolbox, a 100% virtual company, Kim knows a thing or two about the benefits of having a strong corporate culture.

Why Does Culture Matter?

“The critical importance of why you should build a strong culture seems like common sense, but even more commonly it doesn’t receive the proper attention from business leaders,” said Shepherd.  “It doesn’t matter the size of your company, if you don’t have a strong culture, the level of success you can achieve is going to be greatly limited. Culture is not just a squishy concept – it has real impact on the company’s performance.”

In her trademark storytelling style sprinkled with humor and packed with real-life examples, Kim will share thought provoking insights for building strong culture such as:

  • The importance of respect, and what we can all learn from a grocery bagger
  • What is tribal speak, and why you should learn it
  • Why embracing the concept of the virtual workforce is recommended, even if you don’t have one
  • How to build exponential energy with just a small spark
  • Why you should celebrate mistakes
  • What is your Why, and why you should have one
